Certification Resources and the Value of Retained Quantum-Reader Records

Retained trajectories can certify a frozen reader with less source stock than final error scores alone.

Jeremy Rodgers · Independent Researcher · 2026-10-27

The question and the results

How much source stock is needed to validate a frozen reader, and how much does its retained trajectory add beyond the final correctness score?

  • Terminal-error validation admits exact finite gates and anytime likelihood gates, with nearly matching expected-stock information bounds. The target is the fixed policy’s maximum label error.
  • Under the same trusted shared-visibility family, a finite trajectory gate validates the fourteen-copy reader with false-certificate probability 2⁻²⁰ and nominal acceptance probability at least 0.95 using at most 720,160 source copies. Every terminal-error-only validator in that comparison needs more than 1,992,371 copies in expectation.
  • At the exact nominal device, an uncapped trajectory gate accepts almost surely with expected stock below 254,746. Preparation, response-family and deployment-stability promises are stated separately; finite expected cost is not a finite worst-case duration.
